About the Barn Quilt Project:
The Boone County Barn Quilt Trail was begun in 2009 by the Sugar Creek Historical Society (sponsor of the Thorntown Heritage Museum) as a way to promote local tourism and honor quilters past and present. A very special thanks goes to Melissa Imbus for implementing this project.
Along the Trail
As you drive to different quilt sites, be sure to check out some of our wonderful shops and restaurants. In the Thorntown area, check out the Sugar Creek Art Center as well as the Cottage on Pearl, Thorntown Heritage Museum, Stookey’s Restaurant, The Lost Frontier Restaurant, The Bargain Boutique, Forever More Emporium, Framed Wright Art Gallery, Cynthia’s, and the Kewasakee Trail for bikes and walking. You should also see Dull’s Tree Farm, especially during the Christmas season; they have many wonderful activities for families. Also check out the Court House square and businesses in downtown Lebanon, as well as the many shops and restaurants in the village of Zionsville. Explore Boone County and enjoy the charm of our many communities!
Interested in a Barn Quilt of your own?
If you are interested in creating your own barn quilt for the trail or in having one made for you, please call the Thorntown Public Library at (765) 436-7348. We are happy to assist with selection of appropriate materials and techniques as well as design and painting of the quilts. In order for your quilt to be part of the trail, we will have to ensure durable and weather appropriate materials are used.
Thanks to our Volunteers!!
The Boone County Barn Quilt Project would not be possible if not for our many volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering on a quilt we would love to have your help!
